Learn All About Keywords

A Keyword is a unique term (comprised of letters and/or numbers) that people can use to communicate with you via a short code. EZ Texting has various short codes in the United States and in Canada. The basic idea is that a customer texts your Keyword to 313131 (our short code). When they do so, they are automatically added to your list of contacts.

Keywords are an extremely powerful tool when it comes to building a successful mobile marketing campaign. The best way to understand what keywords can do is to consider some examples. We’ve set up a couple of Keywords on the short code 313131 that you can test to see how easy it is for your customers to work with Keywords. Keep in mind that, as soon as a customer texts in your Keyword, they'll be added to your contact list so you can text them in the future.

We also offer Sub-Keywords, which allow you to set up custom responses for additional words following your Keyword. Click here or scroll down to see an example.

Want to try things out with a free demo Keyword? Every EZ Texting account is preloaded with a fully functional demo Keyword.

If you are on Pay & Go, Keywords cost $25/month to rent ($30 in Canada). All of our monthly plans include free Keywords.

THREADZ - This is an example of a Keyword with two Sub-Keywords, NYC and LA. Threadz is a clothing store. If a customer texts Threadz to 313131 they'll receive the message 'Welcome to the Threadz VIP program. Wherever you are, stay tuned for great specials and promos at Threadz!'

If they text Threadz LA or Threadz NYC, they'll receive a location-specific response. You can use Sub-Keywords for to capture votes, to highlight specials on different days, or -- like in this example -- to delineate between multiple locations.
