Adam Brent Houghtaing is a seasoned content professional with over 25 years of editorial and content marketing experience. A graduate of Emerson College with a focus on media studies and film, Houghtaling began his career at Consumers Digest, where he worked with a team of editors to create an online consumer review site far ahead of its time. Houghtaling held editorial positions at AOL CityGuides—where he managed local news and entertainment sites for multiple markets—and launched AOL RED, an exclusive AOL service for teens. He became Digital Editorial Director at Gourmet Magazine in 2006, where he launched the first website for the country’s oldest epicurean brand. While at Gourmet, Houghtaling racked up multiple Webby and Best of the Web Award nominations and won the James Beard Award (What Time Magazine called “The Oscars of the food world.”) for Best Multimedia Food Journalism. After time as the VP of Content at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, where his work was recognized with a Webby Award win for Best Lifestyle Site. Houghtaling also served as Editor-in-Chief & Brand Director for lifestyle magazine, BlackBook.
Houghtaling provided content and marketing consultation for brands, including Marcus Samuelsson's Food Republic, Anolon Cookware, PrefixMag, AARP, Singularity Co., Mediabend Capital, and others.
Taking the Managing Editor position at Fender Guitars in 2016, Houghtaling had made the professional shift from editorial to content marketing. He joined EZ Texting three years later in 2019.
HarperCollins published his first book, This Will End in Tears, in 2012. His work has also appeared on Punch.
