EZ Texting vs. Twilio
The simpler Twilio alternative, with quick carrier approval and a dashboard that’s ready to send.
EZ Texting is a ready-to-use SMS marketing platform, from $25/month. Contacts, keywords, scheduling, and a team inbox come built in, and live chat support is included on every plan. Twilio is a developer platform for teams that want to build texting into their own software.
What makes EZ Texting different from Twilio:
- Carrier registration, done for you. EZ Texting collects what carriers need and submits it end to end. Registrations are typically approved in under 1 business day, so you start sending sooner. On Twilio, you register on your own and approval can take up to 5 business days.
- Free replies. EZ Texting does not charge for incoming messages, so customers can text back as much as they want. Twilio bills each reply per message.
- Live chat support, seven days a week. Every EZ Texting plan includes live chat, plus email and help tickets. On Twilio, live chat is part of a paid support plan.
- Send to your whole list in one step. Pick a contact group and send from the dashboard, or reach the whole group with one API call. Twilio's standard API sends one message per request.
- Quiet hours on every plan. Quiet hours are included at no extra cost. On Twilio, they come with the Compliance Toolkit add-on at $0.015 per text.
- Up and running in about a month. G2 reviewers report about 1 month to implement EZ Texting vs. 2 months for Twilio, and rate EZ Texting 9.1 for ease of setup vs. 7.6.

How we calculated this: 4 campaigns a month, one segment each, 5% reply rate. Twilio carrier fee modeled at $0.0045 per text (published range $0.0035 to $0.005), and replies at $0.0083 plus the highest listed carrier fee. The Twilio total adds link tracking and its entry paid support plan so both sides include the same things. EZ Texting is priced at list overage rates on the plan recommended for each list size; bundled credit discounts can lower it. Developer time uses the US median software developer wage (about $65 an hour, BLS, May 2025). Engineering time is not in the monthly totals.
Per message, Twilio is cheaper: about $0.0128 with carrier fees, vs. $0.03 to $0.04 for EZ Texting overage credits. The difference is what each price includes.

What Our Customers Say About EZ Texting
When Twilio Is the Better Choice
Twilio is a strong pick if you have developers and want to build messaging into your own product. It fits teams that send automated alerts from their software. It also suits companies that want SMS, voice, email, and WhatsApp on one platform. And it works for high-volume senders who prefer to pay per message.
If you want to send campaigns, answer replies, and grow a text list, EZ Texting gets you there without a build.
Frequently Asked Questions
EZ Texting offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card. You can import contacts, build campaigns, and send test texts to your own phone before you pay. Paid plans start at $25 a month for 500 credits. Twilio's free trial also has sending limits, per its trial docs.
It depends on what you count. Per message, Twilio's rate is lower: $0.0083 plus carrier fees. But Twilio bills replies, link tracking, and live chat support separately, and you build the texting tools yourself. For a business with 2,000 contacts sending 4 campaigns a month, EZ Texting's Boost plan comes to $337.50 a month. Twilio comes to about $473 once those extras are added, before any developer time.
In most cases, yes. Twilio's mass-texting guide asks you to build an application in a language such as Python or Node.js. Twilio retired its campaign tool, Engage Premier, which included SMS, on December 15, 2025, and now points marketers to partner products. EZ Texting needs no code.
They fall into two groups. Developer platforms such as Plivo, Telnyx, and SignalWire sell messaging APIs like Twilio. SMS marketing platforms such as EZ Texting, SimpleTexting, and SlickText give businesses a ready-made dashboard. Pick based on whether you want to build or start sending.
Choose Twilio if your developers are building texting into your own app, sending automated alerts, or combining SMS with voice and email on one platform. Choose EZ Texting if your team wants to send campaigns, reply to customers, and run keywords from a dashboard without a build.
Most plans are set up within one business day. EZ Texting handles 10DLC carrier registration for you, and reports that most approvals come back within 24 hours. On Twilio, campaign vetting can take up to five business days, and you set up the registration yourself.
It depends on whether you want to build or start sending. For small businesses that want a ready-made dashboard, EZ Texting ranks #1 of 325 products in TrustRadius' SMS Marketing category, with a score of 9 out of 10. Developer teams building custom apps may prefer an API such as Twilio.
