EZ Texting's Political Traffic Policy
The United States is facing an unprecedented election season. Now more than ever, campaigns are leveraging technology to connect with voters. EZ Texting is here to guide political campaigns on the industry's best practices when anchoring communications in text messaging.
- Political traffic is considered A2P in nature and senders must obtain explicit opt-in consent.
- Not sharing, renting, or selling opt-in lists with other organizations.
- All messages must contain clear opt-out instructions.
- When using contact lists from previous election cycles, the first message in a new campaign needs to reference the previous cycle and contain opt-out instructions.
- Political ideology, rallying, and fundraising campaigns are all supported use cases. Slander of opponents and misinformation are not supported use cases.
- Political candidates must send from a registered A2P longcode or dedicated shortcode only.
