What Is SMS?

SMS is a method for sending and receiving short, text-only messages between mobile devices. SMS differs from other forms of text messaging in that SMS messages are carried over cellular networks and do not require a wifi connection to be sent or received, making them ideal for important messages that need to be seen.

SMS messages must be 160 characters or less and may contain a text link and emojis. If your message is longer than 160 characters it will be sent as an MMS message, which allows for longer character counts, images, and short videos.

In the meantime, we are excited to support Spanish and enable our customers to communicate more effectively with their Spanish-speaking contacts. Lastly, we want to remind our users that the ¿ character may cause message splitting in some cases, but we will provide a notification: "Special character (¿) may require additional credits" when this character is added, the same way we do for the underscore (_) character currently.
