How it Works
1. Create Your Survey
Create your survey, including the chosen keyword. We’ll provide you with 5 options for which users can choose from.
2. Promote to Those Who Opted-In to Your Service
Promote your survey by sending an SMS message to opted-in users. Include what the survey is about, how they can benefit, and what steps to take.
3. Wait for Customers’ Response
Customers reply to the initial survey question with their response. Afterward, they’ll be greeted with a follow-up message that your business can customize with a “thank-you” and/or reward.
Setting Up SMS Polling
In order to run a text to vote polling campaign, you’ll need to be subscribed to a service provider, such as EZTexting. Subscriptions are typically free, however, from there you have the option of choosing a monthly package of text messages or paying on an “as-needed” basis. While on-the-go options are beneficial, they do not include a custom-created keyword, like their counterpart.
Custom keywords are usually single, memorable words that are associated with your business. They are typically used to get customers to opt-in to receive texts from your business - for example `Text “pizza” to 313131 to receive a free beverage with your next order´. When the customer texts the keyword “pizza”, they opt-in to receive your marketing text messages and their details are added to your database.
How to Run a Text to Vote Polling Campaign
When you log in to your SMS service providers’ platform, you should see an option to create a poll with easy-to-follow instructions that guide you through the process. This process will include writing your question, selecting the various answers and adding a closing time/date.
Here are a few examples of the types of questions you can ask:
- What is your favorite type of pizza topping? (1=pepperoni, 2=sausage, 3=mushroom, 4=plain, 5=onions)
- What type of pizza would you like to see added to our menu?
- On a scale of 1 to 5 (5 being the best), how would you rate your most recent experience at our establishment? Reply with a number between 1 and 5.
- Would you recommend us to a friend? Reply with “Yes” or “No”
- I am always satisfied with the quality of my meal when visiting X Pizza shop. Reply “True” or “False”
You can compose an auto-reply for when your customers text their replies - thanking them for their participation, followed by some sort of reward, if applicable. You’ll also have the ability to send participants results of the SMS poll once it has closed, as well as choosing the option to allow multiple votes from the same telephone number.
Monitoring Text Voting Analytics
Once your text polling has been sent, you can monitor your customers´ replies in real time through your service provider. Results are typically reported in graph form as they arrive, and can also be exported as a CSV file that will display the telephone numbers of the customers who participated.
