How do you know if your marketing efforts have been a success? You need to track your results. However, tracking your results is easier said than done sometimes. You know that your sales numbers have changed, but how do you know where the traffic came from, and more importantly, how can you replicate your success in the future?

1. Get the Basics

When you're looking at the success of a marketing campaign, you need to know the basics. These include metrics such as:

How many people engaged with your campaign? If you're tracking this online, you can easily get this statistic from your text marketing platform, email marketing tool or your social media statistics. How many people clicked on that link? Again, look at your text messaging, email and social media marketing tools for these numbers. How did they get there? To track this statistic, you could consider setting up different landing pages for each marketing campaign. For example, a social media campaign could give a slightly different website name than a direct mail campaign. That way, you can see who is coming to you from what marketing campaign. 2. According to Entrepreneur Magazine , Small Business Saturday "started as an American Express initiative to encourage consumers to shop small and local during the holiday season." But it's not small anymore. Millions of people focus their interest and funds on small businesses the day after Black Friday begins the holiday retail season in earnest. How can your business leap right in to Small Business Saturday marketing?

1. Build Awareness and Excitement on Social Media

Small Business Saturday doesn't need to be restricted to Saturday. Build up the excitement about upcoming discounts, launches, or events that you're holding by posting about them on social media before the day begins. Ask people to share an experience they had at your store, Tweet about their favorite product and enter to win, or tell a story about your community that features small businesses.

2. Be Small and Local

Consider smaller, local, and personal ways to advertise your Small Business Saturday. You could create flyers and deliver them around your neighborhood, or you could offer your regulars an incentive to bring a friend to the store that weekend. Partner with another local shop in the community to offer discounts together:...Read more

What are they talking about? If all of the jargon around SMS marketing campaigns makes you want to hide under your desk, you're one of many. Not everyone feels fluent in SMS marketing language. Learn to LOL again instead of being intimidated by marketing language—here's a quick guide to make you well-versed in SMS 101.

1. Confirmed Opt-In

You don't want to send out spam. A confirmed opt-in verifies your customer's or lead's agreement to participate in your text marketing campaign.

The opposite of the opt-in is the opt-out, when a subscriber no longer consents to receive messages.

2. Messaging

This is the general term used to describe what you are doing when you are sending text messages or photos to your subscribers.

3. MMS

MMS stands for Multimedia Messaging Service . What's that? It means that you can use messaging to send more than text. For example, you can send a picture message to someone's phone. According to The Next Web , "our brains not only process visuals faster, but they retain and transmit much more information when it’s delivered visually."

As you move into the holidays, are you ready to connect with your congregants? At this time of the year, simple but effective communication is key. What techniques can you use to send your message home?

1. Post and Repost

Whether you're planning a Christmas pageant or a community dinner, you can use multiple formats to get in touch with your congregants and remind them this event is happening. These formats include:

The church newsletter or bulletin A website events listing or calendar Sunday announcements A text message service Specific emails about the event Post the event on social media

2. Individualize Your Approach

Your congregants' inboxes look scarier than usual this time of the year. Your goal is to distinguish your information from the rest, not to create so many emails that your congregants treat them as spam. How can you make communication meaningful?

Every business owner knows that the key to success is delivering value to customers. In addition to delivering value, businesses must also eliminate barriers. Many of these barriers take the form of unanswered questions and awkward user experiences that cause unnecessary friction.

Clear Up the Confusion

Whether you’re selling a t-shirt or a hybrid hardware subscription service, your prospects need to feel comfortable with what they’re getting before they buy. Every moment of uncertainty lowers the likelihood of purchase. Of course, overwhelming prospects with information can produce the same paralyzing indecision. So how do you find the sweet spot between confusion and overload?

Understand What Shoppers Want to Know – You don’t need a market research firm to tell you what customers are confused about – they will tell you themselves! They will write, call and chat when they need more information. Capture these requests and find the trends. Taken together they will reveal deeper insights, like they’re afraid to choose the wrong pricing plan because they don’t understand what’s included. Test Ways to Educate Them – Identifying a problem is vital, but knowing how to solve it can take some experimentation. Using the...Read more

Hey you! Yes, you: Do you know how to grab attention with your text marketing? Here is some free and exclusive marketing advice: by using enticing words like free and exclusive and by developing a sense of excitement and urgency, you can develop a text marketing campaign that converts.

Make Them an Offer

What kind of an offer are you giving to your leads? If you're telling them to sign up now for a product that you've had all along, and if the price is the same or quite similar to the usual price, why would they get excited about that?

When you text your customers, you need to offer them something of value. Include offers that are relevant right now. For instance, if you're selling advent calendars for kids and it's the last week of November, offer a discounted calendar if your customers act now. Making the same offer in early November won't get people excited.

Use Select Words to Make an Impact

When you're running a text marketing campaign, every word counts. That's why it's important to choose them wisely. Use words that get your customers excited and encourage them to...Read more

While the holiday season is a busy time of year for retailers, it can be a quiet time for restaurants. Consumers are spending their money on gifts, and not necessarily on evenings out with loved ones. Luckily, there are many things restaurant marketers can do to boost business. One of the most popular is developing exclusive holiday menus to attract hungry guests. How do you spread the word about your holiday specials in the most effective way possible?

1. Create a Social Media Account for Your Food

Your food is delightful, and it has personality. Why not give it a social media account of its own?

Whether you're using Facebook or a more photo-specific platform such as Instagram, giving your food a venue where it can shine will attract more visitors to your restaurant for your mouth-watering holiday menus. Add a tidbit of information to your professional photos of dishes. This could be information about the chef or a detail about a unique quality of the meal.

Consider adding photos to Pinterest and Snapchat as well. Pinterest photos can highlight the "how to" of the food experience, giving a bit of...Read more
